Nike Drop Striking New Club América Away Shirt Inspired by Glory Days of 1980s
Nike have provided the latest grail for any football clobber collector by dropping the new Club América away shirt.
Featuring the iconic inverted triangle, the design draws inspiration from the heritage of the Mexican club, with the hope that it will usher in a 'new decade of greatness'.
While the main body of the shirt is white, this is not your run of the mill plain away shirt, with the downward triangle layered with red, yellow and blue lines.
The shirt is a nod to a period of consolidation and growth for the side from Mexico City during the 1980s.
According to Soccer Bible, the club 'took a step forward' at that time, with the Eagles' kit becoming 'iconic, imposing and large', with the union between the fans and the club paving the way for a decade of greatness.
Club América won the Mexican league five times in the 80s, as well as two CONCACAF Champions Cups - the most successful period in their history.
The the bottom and sleeves of the shirt coming a deep blue, as do the two sponsors on the torso, with the club's crest emblazoned on the chest alongside the Nike logo.
If that wasn't enough, the full kit is also made from recycled materials - with approximately 16 plastic bottles turned into polyester fabric.
The shirt is available to buy now from Club América's official online store.
