Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has accused Marseille's Álvaro González of racist abuse following a mass brawl which saw no less than five players shown red cards in the dying stages of Sunday's game.

A collision between Marseille's Darío Benedetto and PSG's Leandro Paredes in the 95th minute of the game sparked a mass brawl on the pitch, with the two aforementioned players being given their marching orders alongside Jordan Amavi and Layvin Kurzawa,

The referee then went to check the VAR monitor and spotted Neymar slapping González in the back of the head, after which he went and issued the Brazilian with a red card of his own.

Neymar spoke to the fourth official immediately after the incident to bring up the alleged racist abuse, and he took to Twitter after the game to double down on his claim and admit he did not regret his actions.

"The only regret I have is not hitting this a*****e in the face," he said, before accusing González directly of the abuse.

González later posted a message insisting that there is no place for racism in football and encouraging Neymar to grow up and learn how to take a loss on the pitch, but that only prompted another furious response from the PSG man.

"You are not man enough to accept your mistake, losing is part of the sport," he began. "Now insulting and bringing racism into our lives - no, I don't agree. I DON'T RESPECT YOU! YOU HAVE NO CHARACTER! Accept what you said ... be a MAN! RACIST."

From a footballing perspective, it was a frustrating night for Neymar, who struggled to have any real impact and instead watched on as PSG fell to their second consecutive defeat.

The defending champions have failed to pick up a single point from their opening two games and will now be without Neymar while they try and finally get things going this season.
