In-form Newcastle United host West Ham United at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon, with the Magpies looking to make it six games unbeaten in the Premier League.

Steve Bruce's side recorded an impressive 4-1 victory over relegation threatened Bournemouth last time out, in what was their second league win since the restart.

As for the Hammers, their survival hopes were given a major boost after they claimed a shock 3-2 win over Frank Lampard's Chelsea, despite having a goal controversially disallowed by VAR. Despite picking up the win, David Moyes' side remain just three points above the drop zone as the scrap to avoid Championship football next season continues.

Team News

The home side are likely to be without midfielder Sean Longstaff for Sunday's fixture, with the 22-year-old forced off against the Cherries in the first half.

Captain Jamaal Lascelles is also a doubt after picking up an ankle injury, while Brazilian forward Joelinton could also miss the clash with a calf problem.

West Ham will have to do without midfielder Felipe Anderson after the former Lazio man picked up an injury in the warm-up against Chelsea.

David Moyes will also have to assess the fitness of Mark Noble, Arthur Masuaku and Sebastien Haller - who all missed the midweek win with various knocks and niggles.

The hosts have been in excellent form since the restart, hitting four at the Vitality Stadium, as well as claiming a 3-0 victory over Sheffield United. The only real negative for Bruce since the restart was his side's 2-0 defeat to Manchester City which saw them miss out on an FA Cup semi-final spot.

As for the away side - their recent win aside - they had been in pretty wretched form, being comfortably beaten by both Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers. That being said, the manner of their performance on Wednesday should inspire some much needed confidence into a side desperate to remain in the top-flight.

While the Hammers will no doubt be buoyed by their midweek victory, the form of the home side should prove too much come Sunday afternoon.

Anyone who watched Newcastle's 4-1 triumph on Wednesday will have been impressed by a side often criticised this season for their dour style of play.

If Allan Saint-Maximin and Jonjo Shelvey can continue their fine form then Newcastle could begin to dream of European football next season, rather than settling for a dour mid-table finish.
