Newcastle United welcome Southampton to St James' Park looking to book their spot in the Carabao Cup final.

A goal from Joelinton was all that separated these sides in last week's first leg at St Mary's, with both teams having strikes ruled out by VAR for handball either side of the Brazilian's effort.

Nathan Jones' men have one mighty task if they are to overturn such a deficit at a ground where Newcastle have not lost all season.

Here's all you need to know ahead of their showdown.

Newcastle vs Southampton score prediction

The leap Newcastle have made this season is incredibly impressive, turning into one of England's meanest teams at both ends of the pitch.

For them not to advance to the final, allowing the Premier League's lowest ranked team to overturn a one-goal deficit in the process, borders on impossible. It would be one of the shocks of the season and doesn't seem fathomable.

Expect a famous night at St James' Park that the Geordies have not seen in a long time.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-0 Southampton
