Newcastle will be confident of taking one step closer to securing a spot in the top four when struggling Southampton come to town on Southampton.

Eddie Howe's side have been unreal in their past few games and won't expect any resistance from the Premier League's bottom side, although the boss will be sure to guard against complacency.

Here's how he could set up.

Newcastle predicted lineup vs Southampton (4-3-3)

GK: Nick Pope - Pope is one clean sheet behind David de Gea in the Golden Glove race and he'll fancy his chances of getting that here.

RB: Kieran Trippier - Trent Alexander-Arnold's recent creative tirade means Trippier is no longer the top assisting defender this season.

CB: Fabian Schar - With three assists of his own in his last five appearances, Schar comes into this one feeling good.

CB: Sven Botman - Botman will have to be on his toes to subdue the nimble Carlos Alcaraz.

LB: Dan Burn - Rested against Everton, Burn should bring his fresh legs into this one.

DM: Bruno Guimaraes - Guimaraes could be playing alongside Southampton's James Ward-Prowse next season if Howe gets his wish.

CM: Sean Longstaff - Even if Ward-Prowse does join in the summer, he'll have a tough job displacing Longstaff in this form.

CM: Joe Willock - Flashing the sort of form that nearly earned him an England call-up not too long ago, Willock must be back in consideration for the Three Lions.

RW: Jacob Murphy - A newfound love of scoring goals has come at a very good time for Murphy.

ST: Alexander Isak - Having been robbed of his wonder assist by a James Tarkowski deflection, don't bet against Isak pulling out the same move here.

LW: Joelinton - The striker-turned-midfielder-turned-winger continues to reinvent himself and prove his worth at the highest level.
