Newcastle predicted lineup vs Everton - Premier League
Newcastle will be hoping to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Chelsea on Sunday when they travel to Goodison Park to take on struggling Everton on Thursday.
Prior to that defeat, Newcastle were on an eight-game unbeaten run and one poor result is unlikely to have completely derailed their momentum – particularly as they played so well.
Here is the starting XI Eddie Howe seems most likely to go with against the Toffees...
1. Goalkeeper & defenders
Martin Dubravka (GK) - Newcastle are looking at bringing in a new goalkeeper in the summer, which seems harsh considering Dubravka's recent performances.
Emil Krafth (RB) - Has slotted in without missing a beat since Kieran Trippier picked up an injury.
Fabian Schar (CB) - Newcastle are set to ditch the back five here and Jamaal Lascelles is more likely to drop out than Schar.
Dan Burn (CB) - What an inspired signing Burn has proved to be. Picked up an assist in a 2-1 win over Southampton last Thursday.
Matt Targett (LB) - Another shrewd January pickup, the Magpies are likely to make Targett's loan move permanent in the summer.
2. Midfielders
Bruno Guimarães (CM) - Impossible to dispossess at times. It's taken a while to bed him into the starting XI but he will take some moving now.
Jonjo Shelvey (CM) - Has really stepped up his performances since Howe took over. The competition for places in midfield is no doubt helping too.
Joe Willock (AM) - Joelinton may be back in contention but this is exactly the sort of game in which Willock normally thrives.
3. Forwards
Allan Saint-Maximin (RW) - After a cameo from the bench against Chelsea, Saint-Maximin should return to his rightful place in the lineup from the start.
Chris Wood (ST) - Finally opened his Magpies scoring account against Southampton. He will be hoping it is the first of many.
Ryan Fraser (LW) - Is enjoying playing under Howe again, which is surprising considering he did not leave Bournemouth on the best of terms.
