Newcastle United have confirmed Eddie Howe's backroom staff is now in place, including his former number two Jason Tindall.

Tindall's arrival was key to Howe agreeing his deal, and although Newcastle's first offer was turned down, talks have since been progressing well.

Tindall has now put pen to paper to link up with his good friend Howe, and the former Bournemouth management team are joined by first-team coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone - who were also part of their staff on the south coast.

Another Bournemouth recruit is sports scientist Dan Hodges, while Graeme Jones - who was part of Steve Bruce's staff - remains at the club after being promised a role by the Magpies' new owners.

Newcastle confirmed the remaining members of Bruce's staff have departed the club, saying in a statement: "Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, who arrived as assistants to Steve Bruce in July 2019, have left their roles after supporting Graeme Jones during an interim period.

"The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Steve and Stephen and wishes them well for the future."

Howe and his new backroom staff are already working hard in the north east, and they will take on their first game in charge of Newcastle this weekend as they host Brentford at St. James' Park.

Newcastle come into the game second from bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety, and still without a win this season.
