The New York Red Bulls have hired Sebastian Hausl as their new head of scouting.

Hausl joins RBNY following a five-year spell with sister club Red Bull Salzburg, where he worked as a team scout for three years before taking up a lead video scouting and data scouting role in 2020.

“We are very excited to add Sebastian to our staff ahead of the 2023 season.” RBNY head of sport Jochen Schneider said in a club press release.

“Sebastian has had great success in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg as he has led the video scouting and data scouting departments for the club over the last three seasons and has been able to identify players that fit a distinct style. We are pleased to have Sebastian with us and looking forward for him helping us add highly talented players to our roster.”

During his time with Salzburg, Hausl helped the club win five consecutive Austrian Bundesliga titles and four Austrian Cups, while they qualified for the UEFA Champions League six times and reached the semi-finals of the 2018 Europa League.

“I am very excited to be joining the New York Red Bulls as the new Head of Scouting ahead of the 2023 season,” said Hausl.

“It is a very important time at the club as we look to recruit players of the highest ability and skillset, which will give us the best possible chance of achieving long-term success at the club. I am really looking forward to leading the club’s scouting department as we build our roster ahead of the 2023 season.”

The Red Bulls are gearing up for the 2023 MLS season, in which they will look to qualify for the Playoffs for the 13th year running - last failing to reach the post-season back in 2009.
