Netherlands Manager Ronald Koeman Delivers Personal Update Following Heart Scare

Ronald Koeman has taken to Twitter to confirm that he is ‘fit as a fiddle’ following heart problems which saw him admitted to hospital.

The former Everton boss was rushed via ambulance to the Amsterdam Medical Centre on Sunday afternoon with cardiac problems.

Having undergone a cardiac catheterisation, the 57-year-old was reported to be in a stable condition and has since been discharged.

Koeman took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to inform his 1.1m followers that he had ‘suffered a bit of a scare’, but went on to reassure everyone that he was now feeling ‘fit as a fiddle’ and was ready to get back to giving the Dutch national team his all once lockdown was over.

Koeman also lauded the medical professionals who had overseen his treatment, saying that he was incredibly grateful to the AMC [Amsterdam Medical Centre] doctors who ‘acted wonderfully’ during his stay, adding that ‘such an event really helps bring you down to earth’.

Having provided an update on his wellbeing and thanked those who cared for him while in hospital, Koeman then went on to thank the well-wishers who had taken time to send him messages of support.

A whole host of clubs and players from around the world took to social media to send their thoughts and prayers to Koeman upon news of his health scare.

Netherlands and Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum tweeted: "Wishing you soon recovery coach", while Koeman’s former employers Everton tweeted: "Everyone at #EFC would like to wish former boss @RonaldKoeman a speedy recovery."

Koeman had been due to lead his country out at Euro 2020 next month, however, the tournament has since been suspended until 2021 following the coronavirus pandemic.

The Oranje qualified convincingly for the major tournament, taking 19 points from a possible 24, winning six of their eight qualifiers.
