Necaxa has parted ways with head coach Jaime Lozano.

The news comes after Necaxa’s elimination from the 2022 Liga MX Apertura Liguilla, losing 2-0 to Tigres UANL in the repechaje match. He first took over the team in the middle of the 2022 Clausura, failing to lead Necaxa into the playoffs before managing 12th place this time around with a record of 5W-8L-4D.

"Club Necaxa reports that in common agreement with our institution, Jaime Lozano ceases to be the Technical Director of the Aguascalientes team as of today. We thank Jaime Lozano and his entire coaching staff for the work done throughout his cycle at the head of the team. We recognize his dedication and commitment, wishing him the best of success in future projects,” said Nexaca in a statement.

“Soon we will be providing information on who will be the new Technical Director of the Necaxa Rays for the Clausura 2023 tournament.”

Prior to taking over Necaxa, Lozano led the Mexican national team to a Bronze medal during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

"I want to thank the Necaxa Club for giving me the opportunity to lead this historic Club. Thanks to the fans for being excited about us; from the first day I felt their love and confidence to seek to transcend together. Thanks to each and every one of those who are part of this Club for their time, effort and dedication,” added Lozano in a statement.

I thank the players for daring to believe in a different way of living football. What I enjoyed the most was seeing them develop and grow day by day but, above all, that they gave their maximum effort at all times. Thanks to the Tinajero family, Al Tylis and all the partners for placing their trust in us. I sincerely hope they get everything they deserve."

With loads of experience under his belt, Lozano is already being linked to teams across Liga MX.
