With top-heavy spending geared towards bringing in premium attacking talent, the Major League Soccer Golden Boot race is always unpredictable.

In recent years, the likes of Josef Martinez and Carlos Vela have set remarkable goalscoring records to bring home the coveted award.

And just last year, Taty Castellanos hit the net 19 times across the 2021 regular season to seal the Golden Boot before inspiring NYCFC to MLS Cup glory in the Playoffs. The Argentine only won the award thanks to contributing more assists than runner-up Ola Kamara.

This season looks like it'll be an equally close race with just two goals separating nine players and plenty more just another strike behind.
