The MLS players who will feature at UEFA Euro 2020
International football will make a come back this summer, kicking off with the delayed 2020 European Championship.
The tournament will run from June 11 to July 11 across the continent.
Throughout the summer several MLS sides will compete without a full squad, as the league plays parallel to the Euros. Most complete rosters are not out yet, but several Major League Soccer players have already been featured in the preliminaries.
Here's the players who have been called up to definitive and preliminary rosters.
1. Przemyslaw Frankowski (Chicago Fire / Poland)
The Chicago Fire midfielder will feature for Poland this summer.
Frankowski has been with the Fire since 2019, providing eight goals and 10 assists during his time. He has started all five games for his side this season, making him integral to Chicago’s plan to succeed in MLS.
2. Szabolcs Schon (FC Dallas/ Hungary)
Schon remains fairly new to MLS, having only joined FC Dallas from MTK Budapest FC a few weeks ago.
Despite a short adjustment period, officials at FC Dallas are confident in the 20 year-old after he provided nine goals and four assists in 27 games for MTK Budapest during his last season.
Schon is currently in the preliminary list for Hungary but should not be overlooked.
3. Robin Lod (Minnesota United FC / Finland)
The Minnesota United midfielder started this season off with two goals and two assists in merely five matches. He’s become a staple for the MLS side, who rarely start a game without him.
Internationally, the midfielder has made 41 appearances for Finland since his debut in 2013 at age 20. He remains on the preliminary roster but is expected to feature in the tournament.
4. Jukka Raitala (Minnesota United FC / Finland)
Minnesota United FC recently acquired the defender from CF Montreal after a great season with the Canadian side.
Raitala made his debut for Finland in 2009 and has since then capped 51 times for the national team. Though his name was prominently featured in the preliminary list, fans expect to see the veteran on the main list when confirmed.
5. Lassi Lappalainen (CF Montreal / Finland)
This season is Lappalainen’s third with CF Montreal, proving to play a vital role for the club with each passing year.
Though he’s well adjusted to MLS, the winger is fairly new to the Finland senior national team after having only made his debut in 2019. Though he’s played for several youth national teams, fans are unsure whether he will advance from the preliminary roster.
6. Daniel Gazdag (Philadelphia Union / Hungary)
Gazdag is new to the MLS as Philadelphia Union announced the signing days before the start of the season.
The attacking midfielder was a standout at Hungarian side, Honved, where he had 13 goals and six assists in 30 appearances. He remains on the preliminary list, but fans expect to see him at the tournament.
