MLS imposes multiple fines over Matchday 10 incidents

Major League Soccer's Disciplinary Committee has fined several clubs and players after the conclusion of Matchday 10.

1. Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake were seeing off a 0-0 draw against the Seattle Sounders when midfielder Pablo Ruiz left the field in a not-so-quickly manner in an attempt to waste time. The incident occurred in the 90th minute and Ruiz has been fined with the amount being undisclosed.

2. Portland Timbers

The Portland Timbers were up 2-1 on the league's newest club, St. Louis City, and trying to see out a huge three points on the road. Portland defender Dario Zuparic attempted to slow the game down and waste time when he fell onto the ground after being lightly pushed by a St. Louis player.

However, Zuparic has been found guilty of simmulation/diseent - which means he was faking an injury. The incident took place in the 87th minute and the defender was also fined an undisclosed amount.


His efforts were fined by MLS.

3. Austin FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes

A large confrontation took place between Austin FC and the San Jose Earthquakes during their 2-2 draw. The incident saw coaches and players from both sidelines run towards each other in the 90th minute, violating the league's Mass Confrontation Policy.

This was Austin FC's first mass confrontation violation of the season and they were issued an undisclosed fine. However, this is a repeat offense for the Earthquakes and their head coach Luchi Gonzalez. Both the club and Gonzales were issued an undisclosed fine.

Penalties were also handed to several players from both clubs, including Austin FC's Jhojan Valencia and San Jose's Judson, Carlos Gruezo and Cristian Espinoza.
