Major League Soccer week four did not disappoint. Players headed into international break with a bang, scoring stunning goals and inspiring important wins.

Charlotte FC celebrated their first ever victory with a stunning effort from Karol Świderski, while Jesus Ferreira broke club records with his first ever career hat-trick.

5. Alejandro Bedoya (vs. NYCFC)

The Union’s key playmaker is back and better than ever. Alejandro Bedoya kicked off the scoring against the reigning MLS champions NYCFC to inspire his side to the 2-0 triumph

His strike from the center of the box to the back of the net also propelled the Union to their first win of the 2022 MLS season.

“The first 15 minutes were going to be crucial,” Bedoya reflected afterward. “A 1 o’clock kickoff, NYCFC has traveled a lot, played some games in Concacaf. We know how hard that can be from last year. So it was important for us to be on the front foot, start with intensity and to get that early goal was crucial.”

4. Jesus Ferreira (vs. Portland Timbers)

Jesus Ferreira broke a club record, scoring three goals during a 10-minute span in the first half to mark the fastest hat-trick in team history. The feat also marked his first career hat-trick.

It’s his first goal, however, that deserves recognition on this edition of Goals of the Week. His right footed strike from the center of the box hit the post perfectly before finding the back of the net in a show stopping fashion.

"I am happy for him, especially with his work rate, his knowledge of the game, and what he offers to the team. He did have an assist today in the match so we have to acknowledge that as well. It is important that he keeps playing and continues playing the way he's been doing it. The goals will come over time,” said head coach Nico Estevez.

3. Karol Świderski (vs. New England Revolution)

Charlotte FC finally celebrated their first Major League Soccer victory. The occasion was marked by Karol Świderski stunning efforts in the sixth and 57th minute, and topped off with a goal by SuperDraft pick Ben Bender.

Świderski’s second strike was one to watch, receiving the ball in the center of the box before firing it into the back of the net.

2. Ryan Hollingshead (vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC)

The LAFC defender absolutely stunned audiences in the match against the Vancouver Whitecaps, scoring twice to earn the Man of the Match award. His first goal levelled the scores, but it was his second strike that deserves a spot on this week’s list.

Hollingshead gained possession of the ball just outside the box, controlling it before firing the right footed shot into the bottom corner.

1. Thiago Almada (vs. CF Montreal)

The Club’s newest midfielder scored his first goal against CF Montreal to propel the Atlanta United to a 3-3 draw. Almada managed a phenomenal strike, recording the right footed shot from just outside the box and into the top corner.

While Almada was happy with the goal, the night was bittersweet.

"A lot of happiness to score the first goal at the club, even if I couldn’t celebrate it much because we were losing," said Almada. "But I felt very happy and the support of the fans gave us a push to go and tie the game.”
