Milan star Alexis Saelemaekers has signed a new contract with the Rossoneri, tying himself to the club until 2026.

The 22-year-old initially arrived in Serie A on loan in January 2020, but the Italian giants made the move permanent the following summer. He signed a contract until 2024, but his impressive performances in red and black have earned him a fresh reward.

Milan confirmed on their official website that Saelemaekers has committed his long-term future to the Rossoneri, signing a brand new deal that will keep him at San Siro until the summer of 2026.

"The Belgian midfielder and AC Milan continue their adventure together!" the statement began.

"AC Milan is pleased to announce the renewal of Alexis Saelemaekers' contract until June 30, 2026.

"Born in 1999, Alexis arrived at AC Milan in January 2020. Since then, he has made 64 appearances and scored four goals so far. The attacking midfielder will continue to wear the Rossoneri shirt."

Saelemaekers also took to Instagram to celebrate his new contract, thanking supporters for their love and affection, and stating he is 'proud' that his development has 'gone hand in hand with the team,' as Milan continue improving under Stefano Pioli.

"The Salamandra remains! I am delighted to continue my story with this great Club that welcomed me and that made me feel important from the off. It is a beautiful emotion that I want to share with all the people who have accompanied me on this journey and in particular with all the Milan fans who are special.

"I am proud of my growth that has gone hand in hand with the team. Now the goal is always the same: to work, grow and win! Forza Milan! God is great."

The versatile starlet made 32 league appearances for Milan in the 2020/21 campaign, and has gone on to become a Belgium international.
