Milan returned to the top of Serie A on Sunday afternoon, beating Crotone 4-0 at San Siro, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic reaching the milestone of 500 club goals.

Davide Calabria put the ball in the net early on, but the goal was ruled out for an offside infringement in the buildup. I Rossoneri did find their breakthrough on the half-hour mark, when Ibrahimovic darted in behind the defence to stroke the ball into the far corner with typical aplomb.

The hosts were always in comfortable control throughout the match, missing a handful of chances to put the game beyond Crotone. It was Ibrahimovic who eventually killed the contest on 64 minutes, tapping home from close range to convert a Theo Hernandez cross.

Ante Rebic then got in on the act to score twice in the space of a minute, first nodding home from a corner, and then slamming the ball into the net from a Hakan Calhanoglu cross.

The three points sent Stefano Pioli's men back to the top of Serie A, leapfrogging rivals Inter in the process.

Let's check out the Milan player ratings from a dominant display from the Rossoneri.

MILAN

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Gianluigi Donnarumma (GK) - 7/10 - Excellent fingertip save to deny Ounas on eight minutes, stretching his giant frame to flick the ball over. Not much else to do afterwards.

Davide Calabria (RB) - 8/10 - Thought he'd broken the deadlock, but an offside flag denied him the pleasure. Continued to maraud up and down the right flank, keeping a cautious eye on activities unfolding behind him.

Fikayo Tomori (CB) - 8/10 - Another commanding display in Italian football. Always composed in possession, and did the dirty stuff excellently. Stood up to the task when Crotone began launching the ball long.

Alessio Romagnoli (CB) - 7/10 - Stuck out a vital toe to stop his opponents from bursting into the penalty area in the second half. Led with calm assurance.

Theo Hernandez (LB) - 8/10 - Another thunderous display. Rampaged down the left, and created a great chance for Leao, steaming from box to box in unstoppable fashion. Laid on the second with a great run and calm delivery.

2. Midfielders

Franck Kessie (CM) - 8/10 - Bossed the midfield. Closed down Crotone's central players, nicked the ball back and got Milan moving up the pitch as quickly as possible.

Soualiho Meite (CM) - 7/10 -
A better display than in recent weeks. Linked up nicely and kept it simple. Offered some cheeky touches in the middle of the park.

Rafael Leao (AM) - 7/10 - Intelligent backheel to supply Calabria, but it was ruled out for offside. Shame. Took the ball off a teammate's toe, who was in a much better position than himself on the edge of the box. Made amends with a beautiful, disguised pass behind the defence to supply Ibra.

3. Forwards

Alexis Saelemaekers (RW) - 6/10 - Not at his best in the first half, with plenty of attacking threat coming down the opposite flank. Subbed at half-time.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (ST) - 8/10 - On the hunt for club goal 500. Only took 30 minutes. A wonderful finish, opening his body up and placing the ball into the far corner. Great movement to be on hand to convert the second, too.

Ante Rebic (LW) - 8/10 - Found a little bit of joy down the left flank, and set up a couple of good chances with some nice cut-backs. Headed and slammed two goals past the Crotone shot-stopper in the space of a minute. Game over.

4. Substitutes

Samuel Castillejo (RW) - 6/10

Hakan Calhanoglu (AM) - 8/10

Jens Petter Hauge (LW) - 6/10

Mario Mandzukic (ST) - 7/10
