League leaders Milan slipped up in the Serie A title race on Saturday, falling to a crushing 3-0 defeat to Atalanta at San Siro.

I Rossoneri fell behind on 25 minutes, when Atalanta defender Cristian Romero evaded his marker and headed smartly beyond Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Milan's troubles worsened soon after the break, when Franck Kessie was penalised for a stray elbow in the penalty area, and Josip Ilicic tucked away the resulting spot-kick to double Atalanta's advantage.

I Rossoneri had chances to get back into the game, with Mario Mandzukic forcing a fine stop from Pierluigi Gollini. But the hosts were caught on the break by the clinical Dea on 77 minutes, and Duvan Zapata killed the game with a ruthless finish from inside the box to secure all three points for Atalanta.

Let's check out the home side's player ratings from a surprise result at San Siro.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Gianluigi Donnarumma (GK) - 5/10 - Stuck out a strong hand to repel Hateboer's shot-cross. Will probably be disappointed to have allowed Romero's header to slip under him. Didn't cover himself in glory for the third, either.

Davide Calabria (RB) - 5/10 - Given a tough evening by Gosens. Constantly arrived second to the ball, and couldn't stop Atalanta flying down that flank. Torn apart.

Pierre Kalulu (CB) - 5/10 - Won't face many trickier afternoons than marking the magical Ilicic and the explosive Zapata. Allowed Romero to drift goal-side and couldn't stop him heading home. Had to leave the field on a stretcher - fingers crossed he's okay.

Simon Kjaer (CB) - 6/10 - Struggled against the immense physicality of Zapata, but defended him well when one on one. Left exposed for the final goal.

Theo Hernandez (LB) - 5/10 - Spent more time in his opponent's half, but his crossing and delivery was a touch off key. When he's not at his best, Milan are just not the same.

2. Midfielders

Soualiho Meite (CM) - 5/10 - Played in a more advanced role in the midfield, but it didn't quite work out for the new boy and he was substituted at half-time.

Sandro Tonali (CM) - 7/10 - The best of the midfielders, and put in some great tackles to protect his backline. Rarely wasted possession when entrusted with the ball.

Franck Kessie (CM) - 5/10 - Worked hard to cover the gaps and spaces left by the relentless Hernandez behind him. Gave away the penalty with an elbow on Ilicic. May feel hard done by, but the contact was there. Silly.

3. Forwards

Samu Castillejo (RW) - 5/10 - Lacked any sort of penetration and was easily nullified on that right flank. Looks like a man out of ideas when Plan A doesn't come good.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (ST) - 6/10 - Skewed wide a great chance in the first half when he found himself unmarked at the far post. Looked a touch off the pace against such an energetic side.

Rafael Leao (LW) - 5/10 - Kept very quiet by Atalanta's backline. Couldn't get on the ball in dangerous positions. Often on a different wavelength to his attacking teammates, making the wrong run or ignoring a good option.

4. Substitutes

Brahim Diaz (CM) - 7/10 - Came on at half time and generally looked bright on the ball. Symptomatic of Milan's woes that Diaz was among their best performers and he only played 45 minutes.

Mateo Musacchio (CB) - 6/10

Mario Mandzukic (ST) - 6/10

Ante Rebic (LW) - 6/10
