Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta provided updates on Martin Odegaard and Leandro Trossard after the duo missed Thursday's 1-1 draw with Nurnberg.

The Gunners kicked off their pre-season preparations at the Max-Morlock-Stadion. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring in the first half before Jorginho put the ball into his own net after the break.

They had to make do without forward Trossard and club captain Odegaard after they sustained injuries on the day of the game.

Arteta was asked about the pair's wellbeing following the draw in Germany.

"[Odegaard] and Leo are struggling and we had other players with issues picked up in the week so we have to be cautious," he told the press.

"It's pre-season and some of them have only had two or three training sessions so we'll take it step by step."

When pushed for further updates, Arteta said that Odegaard was 'not feeling good enough to play', while Trossard's problem was 'hopefully' not a serious one.

Arsenal will fly out to the Unites States this weekend to continue their pre-season campaign. Arteta's side will take on the MLS All-Stars before facing off against Manchester United and Barcelona.

They will finish their preparations against Monaco in the Emirates Cup at the start of August before taking on Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley.

Arsenal open their Premier League season at home to Nottingham Forest on August 12.
