New Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is supposedly eying a deal for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
The Argentine striker, 32, has entered the final six months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium and is currently working his way back to fitness after a knee injury picked up at the end of last season.
Pochettino has reportedly identified his fellow countryman as the ideal signing to lead the line alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, and is ready to swoop to secure his signature, according to The Sun.
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that manager Mauricio Pochettino has tested positive for COVID-19.
Mauricio Pochettino's PSG have been linked with a move for Paul Pogba
Sergio Ramos is still heavily linked with Manchester United are he nears the end of his Real Madrid contract and weighs up options about his future.
Manchester City are interested in signing Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli this summer, but face competition from both Juventus and Milan.
Aguero is able to talk to foreign clubs about leaving his current side on a pre-contract agreement in the summer and PSG are one of the only clubs that would be able to afford his current wages of around £230,000-per-week.
After allowing Edinson Cavani to leave the club on a free transfer last summer, PSG turned Mauro Icardi's loan deal permanent in a £50m deal. But Icardi has struggled with injuries this season and has made just five appearances so far in the current campaign.
Talks between Aguero and City are currently ongoing, with the club keen to keep hold of their all-time top goalscorer. The striker has previously made it clear that it is his intention to eventually retire back in Argentina, but a big-money move to PSG could prove appealing as he enters the twilight of his career.
Aguero hasn't scored in the Premier League since January 2020 owing in part to injury and the COVID-19 hiatus, but City are reportedly in the market for a new striker anyway and he could see his role in the side reduced going forward.
With his international teammate Lionel Messi likely to be part of a three-way tug-of-war between City, PSG and Barcelona, Aguero's future could be linked to any move Messi makes due to the financial demands of any potential deal.
