Mauricio Pochettino Reveals the Clubs Who Approached Him This Summer & Discusses 'Dream' Job

Mauricio Pochettino insists he did not receive offers from Europe's elite clubs this summer, with only Benfica and Monaco enquiring about his services.

In a telling interview, the former Spurs boss also revealed that it is his 'dream' to join Real Madrid, and explained why he couldn't see himself joining Barcelona.

Pochettino has been out of work since leaving Tottenham in November, and despite the sour end to his time in north London, he's been linked with virtually every open job since.

He was heavily linked with Barcelona, and speculation was fuelled further when he was pictured eating with technical director Ramon Planes, but Pochettino says that was no more than a dinner between friends.

"They didn't offer me to coach Barça," he told Marca . "I didn't see myself with [president Josep Maria] Bartomeu.

"I did eat with Ramon Planes because we have a friendship for many years, since 2009 when he signed for Espanyol."

While PSG, Juventus, Inter and a raft of other clubs were reportedly in the frame, Pochettino adds that none of the European powerhouses were in touch. Benfica and Monaco were as good as it got, but he continues to play the waiting game over his 'dream' move.

"Neither PSG, nor Juventus, nor Inter [made offers in the off-season]," Pochettino added. "I did have a call from Benfica and Monaco. I have no need to lie."

On potentially coaching Real Madrid, he concluded: "I don't know if I'll ever coach Madrid, but of course it's my dream.

"If it's not the best it's one of the best clubs in the world. I'm no different, everyone has it on their dream list."
