The Portland Timbers have signed winger Marvin Loria to a new contract through 2024 with an option for the 2025 season.

The 24-year-old is in his fourth season with the Timbers, scoring five goals and assisting another four in 79 appearances across all competitions.

During that time, Loria has helped the Timbers win the MLS is Back Tournament in 2020, while also reaching MLS Cup last season where they lost at home to New York City FC on penalties.

Loria - who has one senior cap to his name for Costa Rica - has found himself out of favor at Providence Park so far this season, appearing as a substitute three times across just 20 minutes of MLS action. But the wideman has plenty of potential and could be seen as an important building block for the future by head coach Giovanni Savarese.

After losing 3-1 at home to the LA Galaxy last week, Portland travel to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday looking to climb up from 12th in the Western Conference standings.
