Marta Torrejon has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with Barcelona, committing her future to the club until 2024.

The right back - who joined the Catalan giants from Espanyol in 2013 - was a key part of Barcelona's 2020/21 treble-winning campaign, but her contract had been poised to expire in the summer.

It continues a week of contract extensions for the European champions, after centre back Mapi Leon also signed a new two-year deal with Barcelona on Monday.

"I am very happy to be able to continue at this great club, to be able to compete for all the titles this season and dedicate to giving the best of myself," Torrejon told Barcelona's official club website.

"I have seen how Barca has evolved over the years. I am very happy to be able to enjoy this moment and be part of this great family ”.

The 32-year-old has established herself as a proud part of Barcelona's history during her seven years with the cub. Torrejon has made 340 appearances - the fifth most in the club's history - and her 56 goals from right back make her the Blaugrana's all-time top scoring defender.

The full-back featured nine times in the Champions League during the 2020/21 season and started in the final against Chelsea as Barcelona claimed the title for the first time in their history.

With Torrejon and Leon committing their future to the club this week, Barcelona fans will be hoping that Lieke Martens shortly follows suit. The Dutch international's contract extends at the end of the season, but has hinted she is keen to extend her stay in Catalonia beyond the summer.
