Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is the new owner of the Bundesliga record for most wins after surpassing the previous mark made by fellow stopper and Bayern legend Oliver Kahn.
Neuer took part in his 311th Bundesliga win as Bayern cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
The 35-year-old has played in 460 top-flight games in Germany to date, including 156 for former club Schalke. That gives him an outstanding win rate of 68% in all Bundesliga matches.
Kahn’s record had stood since 2008 when he called time on his Bayern career. Although the gloves initially went to Hans-Jorg Butt, Neuer was effectively the long-term replacement to Kahn when he arrived in Munich in 2011 after helping Schalke reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Neuer is on course to win his tenth Bundesliga title this season, only failing to get his hands on the trophy in his very first season at the club back in 2011/12.
He has won 17 other domestic and continental honours during his time at the club, including two Champions League titles, as well as being a World Cup winner with Germany in 2014 and finishing third in the Ballon d’Or that same year.
