Manchester United 'Once Again' Interested in Signing Pietro Pellegri
By Adam Aladay
Manchester United are said to be keen on bringing in Monaco's young striker Pietro Pellegri, having tracked the player since he was just 16.
Not too long ago, Pellegri was one of the most exciting young talents in world football - making his debut in Serie A aged just 15 years and 280 days.
He became the first player born in 2001 to score a goal in Serie A. After a scintillating start to his senior career, it wasn't long before Pellegri earned himself a big money move to Monaco. The Ligue 1 outfit paid around €25m for his services in January 2018.
However, since making the switch, he has struggled majorly with injuries and, as a result, he has been limited to just six appearances for his club. The Italian has also failed to make a single appearance in 2019/20.
Despite this, Gianluca Di Marzio report that the striker, who only recently turned 19, is attracting interest from abroad - specifically from Manchester United. It is said that the Red Devils have been tracking him since he was 16 and have now once again made him a transfer target.
The report further alludes to United's good relationship with Monaco, having signed Anthony Martial from Les Monégasques back in the summer of 2015. More recently, teenager Hannibal Mejbri, who is considered one of the most exciting talents in the Red Devils' youth academy, joined from Monaco in the summer of 2019.
However, Monaco are said to be prepared to make Pellegri a starter next season should he maintain fitness, giving him a chance to fulfil his potential amid personnel upheaval at the club.
There is no mention of a fee, but despite the fact that Pellegri has struggled with injuries, Monaco will make suitors aware of the potential of the striker - hence why they forked out so much money on him back in 2018.
