Manchester United are set to offer captain Harry Maguire a lucrative new contract at Old Trafford, putting him in line with the highest earners at the club.
The 28-year-old has grown to become a vital part of the Red Devils' defence as their skipper over the last two years, having penned a six-year deal when he joined from Leicester City in the summer of 2019.
Despite having four years remaining on his current contract, Man Utd are ready to reward Maguire for his rise in standing in the team by offering him a brand new deal, as per the Mirror.
The England star will receive a contract which matches the salaries of new signings Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho, handing him a significant increase from his current wage. An improved deal seems a fair reward for Maguire, after his significance to the side was magnified by his absence at the end of last season.
Maguire was an ever-present at the heart of the defence, but he picked up an ankle injury against Aston Villa, ruling him out for the final few games of the campaign. His absence was sorely felt as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side lost two out of four league matches, conceding eight goals in the process.
He also missed the Europa League final, which Man Utd lost on penalties to Villarreal. Maguire returned to action during England's Euro 2020 campaign, and was superb in the Three Lions' route to the final.
Maguire's start to the new season hasn't been as great, and is currently recovering from a calf injury.
