Manchester United are in talks to sign Tottenham target Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli, according to reports.
The Polish striker came extremely close to sealing a switch to Roma recently, only for the move to fall through at the last minute following a medical. Since then, Spurs and Newcastle are among the sides that have been linked with the player.
"The latter are the most reliable track, but the formula requested by Napoli does not convince Mourinho."
United are known to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements, with Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho remaining their number one target. However, with negotiations with Dortmund still not bearing fruit, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be ready to explore new avenues.
The Red Devils lack depth in the forward department outside of starting front three, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood. They do have Odion Ighalo on loan until January but both Andreas Pereira and Daniel James look set to depart the club.
Milik has an impressive goal record, netting 28 times over the past two Serie A seasons and hitting 21 Eredivisie goals for Ajax during the 2015/2016 campaign.
Because of this, he is also a target for José Mourinho. Spurs are in desperate need of a centre-forward who can lessen the scoring burden on Harry Kane, and Milik would fit the bill perfectly. However, there are doubts over whether a striker of his pedigree would be willing to sign, knowing he is likely to play second fiddle to Kane.
