Manchester City have offered Oleksandr Zinchenko to Barcelona, although any potential deal is still in the early stages, with negotiations between the two clubs not yet opened.

Pep Guardiola's current and former employees are already locked in negotiations regarding a move for City defender Eric Garcia - but he could be joined at Camp Nou by his teammate Zinchenko.

According to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo, City have offered the Ukrainian international to Barcelona.

The Catalan giants are interested in Zinchenko but will only consider making a move for the City player should they part ways with left back Junior Firpo.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Serie A, with Atalanta, Inter and Fiorentina all eying up the Barcelona man.

Zinchenko is yet to appear for City this season as he recovers from a muscular injury. He featured 25 times in all competitions for Guardiola's side last term, predominantly at left back despite being considered a midfielder by trade.

Barcelona are undergoing a major rebuilding job under new boss Ronald Koeman following one of the most turgid seasons in their recent history, with behind the scenes turmoil and catastrophic results coming in equal measure.

Zinchenko's youth and versatility could appeal to Koeman as he attempts to rebuild his new side. The 23-year-old still has four years remaining on his Manchester City contract - which runs until 2024

Barcelona continue to be heavily linked with Zinchenko's teammate Garcia, who has said he has no intention of signing a new contract at the Etihad. The two clubs have reportedly agreed an €18m fee for the defender - but City must first sign a new centre back of their own before the deal can be given the green light.

Garcia started - and conceded a penalty - as City lost 5-2 to Leicester in their most recent Premier League outing.
