Manchester City lifted the Premier League trophy on Sunday afternoon following their 1-0 victory over Chelsea.

Nottingham Forest's win over Arsenal on Saturday night crowned City as champions for the third successive season. It's their seventh Premier League title and their ninth top flight championship overall.

The City players were greeted back onto the pitch after a brief pitch invasion and cheered onto the podium one by one before Ilkay Gundogan hoisted the trophy aloft to a rapturous Etihad attendance.

The celebrations were slightly more refined than last season, when City came from behind to beat Aston Villa and secure the league title on the final day of the season. With Champions League and FA Cup finals still to come, Pep Guardiola will have his squad focused on the tasks ahead.

The Citizens were chasing Arsenal for much of the season but found a unbeaten run of results all the way from February to May make up the ground.

Julian Alvarez scored the only goal of the game as a City side much changed from the midweek thumping of Real Madrid in Europe took an early lead against a beleaguered Chelsea side.

Arsenal's defeat saw Guardiola ring the changes in his starting XI with opportunities for Stefan Ortega in goal, Kalvin Phillips, Rico Lewis, Sergio Gomez and Cole Palmer among others.

There was a return to the Etihad for Raheem Sterling, who watched on as his former teammates celebrated having played large roles in four of their previous title triumphs.
