Manchester United are sweating over the fitness of goalkeeper Andre Onana after he limped off injured late in Cameroon's 3-0 win over Mauritius.

Onana collapsed to the turf and appeared to be holding his groin as he left the pitch to be replaced by Nimes stopper Fabrice Ondoa.

There has been no update on Onana's condition from Cameroon manager Rigobert Song, who only convinced the United goalkeeper to come out of international retirement in September after the duo had disagreed over the team's tactics.

United officials will be keen to get a closer look at Onana, who is now expected to miss Monday's match with Guinea.

The Red Devils face Everton on November 26 before a tough run of fixtures against Galatasaray, Newcastle United and Chelsea, while Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also on the schedule later in December.

Should Onana require any time on the sidelines, he would be replaced in Erik ten Hag's starting lineup by Turkish international Altay Bayindir, who is still waiting to make his debut for United after joining from Fenerbahce in the summer.

Bayindir appears set for an extended run in the team in early 2024 anyway, with Onana likely to head off with Cameroon for the Africa Cup of Nations - which runs from January 13 to February 11.

Reports have previously suggested Onana could snub the chance to represent his country at the tournament and instead focus his efforts on helping United back to their best form, although whether he will take that stance when the time comes remains to be seen.

Should Onana opt to head to the tournament, he could miss a significant number of games for United if Cameroon enjoy a deep run.

Alongside Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United and Aston Villa away, Onana could miss United's FA Cup third- and fourth-round clashes as well.
