Forwards usually score the goals in football, whether they be typical centre forwards or the type of goalscoring wide forwards that have flooded the game in the last 10 years.

But goals from midfielders are vitally important as well and any good team will usually have a group of midfield players that regularly chip in.

Looking back at every campaign since 1992/93, these are all the Manchester United midfielders who have scored at least 10 goals in all competitions in a given season.

A famous brace against Arsenal stood out for Jesse Lingard during the 2017/18 season, during which he scored eight times in the Premier League and five in other competitions.

9. Paul Scholes – 14 goals (1995/96)

Paul Scholes was part of the first-team squad for most of the 1994/95 season, but it was in 1995/96 that he truly announced himself with 14 goals to contribute to the Premier League and FA Cup double.

8. Ryan Giggs – 14 goals (2002/03)

Adapting and changing his game as he got older, the 2002/03 season was actually the last time that Ryan Giggs scored double figures for United in a single campaign with 14.

7. Paul Scholes – 14 goals (2003/04)

Perhaps Paul Scholes' most important goal of the 2003/04 season was the winner against Arsenal in the FA Cup semi-final, putting United into the final against Millwall and ensuring the campaign would not be trophy-less.

6. Andrei Kanchelskis – 15 goals (1994/95)

With Eric Cantona suspended in January 1995, Andrei Kanchelskis finished the season as United's top scorer. In November, he had netted a famous hat-trick in a 5-0 thrashing of Manchester City.

David Beckham scored 11 times in the Premier League alone in 2001/02, with 16 goals in all competitions. It was his most prolific season in a United shirt, although it was not uncommon for him to hit double figures.

4. Paul Pogba – 16 goals (2018/19)

Paul Pogba stood head and shoulders above every United player in a largely disappointing season in 2018/19. The Frenchman showed his quality, not matched by his teammates, with 16 goals in total.

3. Ryan Giggs – 17 goals (1993/94)

Ryan Giggs could be unplayable at times in the early 1990s and the 1993/94 campaign saw him net 17 goals from 58 appearances in all competitions, including United's very first of the season.

2. Paul Scholes – 20 goals (2002/03)

Paul Scholes is one of of only two United midfielders in the post-1992 era to have scored 20 goals in all competitions in a single season. A hat-trick in a 6-2 demolition of Newcastle particularly stands out.

1. Bruno Fernandes – 28 goals (2020/21)

Bruno Fernandes' impact at United has been utterly remarkable. He scored 12 goals in just half a season when he first arrived in January 2020 and then went over 25 goals in his first full year at Old Trafford.
