Expected by many to make another leap in 2023/24, Manchester United's Premier League season got off to an unconvincing start.

While United walked away from Monday night's game with three points in their back pocket, Erik ten Hag would've left Old Trafford doubtlessly concerned by his side's performance. Wolves were rampant in transition, exploiting United's haphazard press and their porous midfield, but they couldn't piece together the final action.

United's issues could prompt the Dutch manager to make a couple of changes to his starting XI for Saturday's trip to Tottenham. Here's the lineup Ten Hag may pick.

Raphael Varane

GK: Andre Onana - While he was incredibly fortunate not to give away a penalty, Onana impressed on his Premier League debut and he could be in for another busy outing on Saturday.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka - A renaissance has seen Wan-Bissaka usurp Diogo Dalot in the depth chart.

CB: Raphael Varane - The unlikely hero at Old Trafford on Monday, Varane scored the game's only goal in United's slender win over Wolves. He's a shoo-in.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - The Argentinian was forced off at half-time on Monday night with an apparent ankle injury, but he should be okay to start in north London.

LB: Luke Shaw - The Englishman performed a complex role that's become commonplace in the Premier League, although Shaw's inversion against Wolves wasn't very effective. With Ten Hag likely to change tack, Shaw could perform a more traditional full-back role in order to exploit the space down Spurs' flanks.

CM: Casemiro - The Brazilian wasn't given much support by his fellow midfielders in United's Premier League opener, as Wolves constantly bypassed the holding midfielder in transition. Casemiro will need to be much improved against the guile of James Maddison on Saturday.

CM: Scott McTominay - With Shaw's inverted role failing to protect United against the counter, Ten Hag could opt for a more conservative ploy and utilise McTominay alongside Casemiro. While he's not the most astute defender, he's a supreme athlete who'll aid United's ability to defend the counter with his recovery running.

RM: Antony - Jadon Sancho is vying for minutes, but he struggles to perform the touchline role in Ten Hag's system. Thus, Antony is likely to retain his place down the right and match up against the physically impressive Destiny Udogie.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - United's skipper was one of several poor performers at Old Trafford, although he has enjoyed success against Spurs in the past. Fernandes is a sure bet to start on Saturday.

LM: Mason Mount - There's no way Ten Hag will opt for the same structure as he did on Monday night. With Shaw marauding on the touchline, he could use Mount wide left and instruct him to join Bruno between the lines. The Englishman will also play a key role out of possession.

ST: Marcus Rashford - With Rasmus Hojlund still absent, Rashford is likely to lead the line once again. He loves the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium; scoring on his two most recent appearances in N17.
