Manchester United prepare to host local rivals Manchester City this weekend, searching for their first derby win in almost two years since March 2021.

United carry into this game the momentum of eight consecutive wins in all competitions, with the squad arguably in no better shape at any point in the last 10 years.

Here's a look at the starting XI that Erik ten Hag could pick...

Man Utd predicted lineup vs Man City

GK: David de Gea - His place isn't really in doubt but more mistakes like the one against Everton recently will at least force questions to be asked.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka - Could get the nod if Diogo Dalot is unavailable and it would be a big test for him after only recently recapturing form and fitness.

CB: Raphael Varane - Sat it out against both Bournemouth and Charlton in recent weeks and so should be fresh and ready to go here.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - Charlton was his first and only start since the World Cup, which could make including him a gamble. But there are few who would relish this test more.

LB: Luke Shaw - Shifted back and forth between left-back and centre-back since Christmas, yet this is still where he is at his best.

CM: Casemiro - The 6-3 thrashing at the Etihad was the last Premier League game he didn't start and United have taken 23 points from a possible 30 since then. It is not a coincidence.

CM: Christian Eriksen - Between his form at Brentford last season and his performances in a United shirt, any doubts over whether he could still perform at this level are redundant.

RM: Antony - United fans still haven't seen the best of the €100m Brazilian, but goals in each of his last two appearances will do wonders for his confidence.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - Set to return following a suspension in the Carabao Cup. Has come to wear the captain's armband in most games now.

LM: Marcus Rashford - Quite simply in unstoppable form and probably the best he has ever been. Has scored in three Premier League games in a row and seven times in his last six in all competitions.

ST: Anthony Martial - Sat out against Charlton for rest and should return here. United are unlikely to have Wout Weghorst registered before the deadline to play.
