Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, looking to bounce back from a 4-2 defeat to Leicester in their last domestic match and build on a comeback 3-2 Champions League win over Atalanta in midweek.

The public pressure had been growing on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before facing the Serie A side and he will have been relieved to see a reaction from his players, even if it meant going 2-0 down first.

Here's a look at the starting XI the manager could pick against Liverpool...

1. Goalkeeper & defender

David de Gea (GK): Only one clean sheet for the Spaniard so far this season. He will have to be at his brilliant best to keep out a rampant Liverpool side here.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB): This will be a key battle because if plays on the front foot and gets forward regularly it might limit the impact of Andrew Robertson going the other way.

Victor Lindelof (CB): The Swede continues to stand in for Raphael Varane, who remains sidelined with a muscle injury for at least a little while yet.

Harry Maguire (CB): Looked rusty and lacking sharpness against Leicester a week ago but will take confidence from his performance in the Champions League, as well as a rare goal.

Luke Shaw (LB): Tasked with stopping Mohamed Salah, who has scored in his last nine appearances in a row in all competitions for Liverpool.

2. Midfielders

Scott McTominay (CM): It is these kinds of games against the like of Liverpool, Manchester City and others that tend to bring out the best in him. That is needed more than ever here.

Nemanja Matic (CM): Fred is considered a doubt after suffering a knock against Atalanta. That could lead to the veteran Serbian getting a recall to offer more a shielding presence in midfield than Paul Pogba.

Bruno Fernandes (AM): Has been ruled a doubt ahead of this one but is doing 'everything he can' to be fit in time. If anyone can race back to fitness and play through the pain, it is him.

3. Forwards

Marcus Rashford (RW): Expected to recover in time from a minor knock suffered on Wednesday. Often plays well in this fixture and has scored in each of United’s last two wins against Liverpool.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST): Proved himself to be much more than just a goal poacher in Wednesday’s 3-2 win. Yes, he got the late winner, but he also put in a hard shift for the team as well.

Paul Pogba (LW): Played well after coming off the bench against Atalanta and could be restored to the starting lineup, but further forward to ensure a more solid midfield shape.
