Erik ten Hag's in-form Manchester United travel to bitter rivals Liverpool on Sunday looking for a first victory on Merseyside in seven years.

The Red Devils have been in scintillating form of late and head to Anfield off the back of three wins in a week - the first knocking Barcelona out of the Europa League, the second beating Newcastle at Wembley to win the Carabao Cup, and the third a comeback win over West Ham to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

In Marcus Rashford, United have one of the most in-form players in the world, but the likes of Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Fred are also playing at the top of their game.

That should provide great drive and impetus as United take on a Liverpool side fighting to get back into contention for a top-four finish.

Here's how United may line up for the game.

GK: David de Gea - Capable of the absolutely sublime and also the absolutely ridiculous. Luckily for United it's been the former that's come to the fore this season.

RB: Diogo Dalot - Aaron Wan-Bissaka has forced his way back into the reckoning at United, but there's no disputing that Dalot is first choice if 100% fit.

CB: Raphael Varane - The winning mentality Varane had at Real Madrid finally appears to be catching on at United. An absolute rock at the back when on form.

CB: Lisandro Martinez - Ridiculed at the start of the season for his height, it's safe to say Martinez has had the last laugh.

LB: Luke Shaw - Missed the midweek win over West Ham because of injury but Ten Hag expects a return to action here. Good job as Shaw is the Premier League's best defender at present.

CM: Casemiro - The number of former professional players turned pundits who are admitting they got it wrong about Casemiro is rather amusing. A class act who usually rocks up on the winning side.

CM: Fred - A completely different animal under Erik ten Hag's management. Look up the definition of endless running and the Brazilian's name won't be far away.

RM: Bruno Fernandes - Capable of playing centrally or wide right, Ten Hag has unlocked the best of Fernandes this season. Still, the Portuguese must control his temper and improve ball retention.

AM: Wout Weghorst - There's every chance Weghorst leads the line for United and Marcus Rashford shifts out right, but the Dutchman has proven more than capable of doing a job as a number 10.

LM: Alejandro Garnacho - A sparkling FA Cup display in midweek may earn Garnacho a start in one of United's biggest games this season, particularly as Jadon Sancho has been under the weather with a fever.

ST: Marcus Rashford - Rotation of roles could see Rashford play on the right, left or up top - either way he's brimming with confidence and will be a real goal threat.
