Manchester United pair Anthony Elanga and Fred are both relishing playing alongside new signing Christian Eriksen following his arrival at the club.

Having proven that he could still play to a high Premier League standard during a short-term spell at Brentford, Eriksen accepted United’s offer of a three-year contract.

The Dane, regarded as one of the best creative midfielders in Europe during his time at Tottenham and previously a target for United, will add quality, depth and experience to a squad that already looks to be in better shape just a few weeks into new manager Erik ten Hag’s tenure.

“He’s a special player, a really good player and I’ve played against him. I had the honour to play against him last season and you could see his qualities from there,” Elanga told ManUtd.com.

“I feel like he’ll be a great contributor to the team. I’m really looking forward to playing with him and hopefully he’ll put some balls in behind for me to run on to. That will be nice!”

Listen now to 90min's Manchester United podcast, The Promised Land, with Scott Saunders & Rob Blanchette. In the latest edition they discuss Erik Ten Hag's comments regarding a holding midfielder, what Man Utd might line-up like in the new season, the arrivals of Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, Cristiano Ronaldo's future and more.

Those positive comments were echoed by Fred, who described Eriksen as both a ‘great player’ and a ‘great person’.

“He's got the ability, a great player, attacking, strikes the ball well, knows where the goal is. He'll add to the team and he'll be made very welcome in our team, at Manchester United. Together we can achieve our goals,” Fred also told ManUtd.com.

“He's a very experienced player, I'm sure he'll contribute a lot. He seems like a great person and will add to our group. I'm fully behind him and hope that it all works out in our team. As I said we want to achieve our goals together and he can add a lot to our team.”
