Man Utd dealt fresh injury blow on eve of Fulham FA Cup tie

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed a fresh injury headache ahead of Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final with Fulham.

The Red Devils are looking to register their first domestic win since their late round five triumph over West Ham. They have since been hammered 7-0 by Liverpool and drawn 0-0 with 20th-placed Southampton in the Premier League in the last couple of weeks.

They have, at least, progressed to the last eight of the Europa League. United beat Real Betis 4-1 at Old Trafford before winning 1-0 in the away leg in Spain earlier this week.

Ten Hag opted to make several changes to his starting lineup for that encounter, though notably did not bring Scott McTominay on from the bench, with many believing he would replace the suspended Casemiro in Sunday's encounter with Fulham.

However, the Dutchman has admitted that McTominay did not play against Real Betis due to a niggling problem and may not be fit in time to take on Fulham at Old Trafford.

"We just returned. We have to see, to see the doc. I have an idea but I have to see the progress with some players," Ten Hag told club media regarding his lineup plans.

"About the last game, that is why I didn’t bring him in, Scott McTominay, [as] he had some complaints. We have to see how that will progress in the coming hours and days."

Should McTominay not be ready to face Fulham, United will have only two fit central midfielders to call on - Marcel Sabitzer and Fred. In last week's draw with Southampton, Bruno Fernandes started in an an uncharacteristically deep role and may play such a position again.
