Manchester United have finalised an agreement to send Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund on loan, according to widespread reports.

Sancho has spent almost the entirety of the 2023/24 season frozen out of the United first-team following a public falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

The winger has refused to apologise to Ten Hag for hitting back at the boss' comments about his training level and has been tipped to leave United during the January transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Sancho's former club Dortmund have now reached an agreement with United to take him on loan for the remainder of the season and he will travel for a medical later on Wednesday.

The deal will not include an option to buy and while United will still cover part of Sancho's wages, Dortmund have agreed to pay €4m as part of the deal.

Reports linking Sancho with a return to Dortmund intensified on January 2 when several major German outlets claimed the Bundesliga side were in talks with United.

A deal was expected to be agreed quickly but talks about finer details rumbled on into this week and the two clubs have now only just come to an understanding.

Sancho heads back to Dortmund having spent four years on their books between 2017 and 2021, enjoying a fruitful spell that saw him 50 goals in 137 matches. This form saw him earn a £73m move to United, where he has largely failed to live up to expectations.
