Manchester United have launched their new adidas away shirt for the 2020/21 season, a dark ‘earth’ shade of green in a design featuring an intricately hand-drawn pattern.
The dark base colour is contrasted with sharp white detail and branding, including a monochrome club badge. Chevrolet and Kohler return as main and sleeve sponsors respectively, with the trademark adidas stripes sitting on top of the shoulders.
Inspiration for the official launch draws on United’s famous travelling fans, with the club seeking to recognise the importance of the loyal supporters who follow the team all over England and Europe.
Players like Marcus Rashford, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Katie Zelem and Millie Turner have modelled the new jersey alongside different modes of transport to evoke feelings of travelling to games together.
The brand new away shirt will be worn for the first time when United face Sevilla in a one-off Europa League semi-final in Cologne on Sunday night.
Victory for United on Sunday would see the team reach the tournament’s final for the second time in four seasons, having previously lifted the trophy in 2017. Either Inter or Shakhtar Donetsk await in the showpiece event, boasting four previous triumphs between them in this competition.
United have already launched their 2020/21 home kit, so far wearing the new jersey against LASK and Copenhagen in the Europe League. The red base colour is flecked with a rippled pattern, adding a fresh and modern twist to the traditional classic.
The new United away shirt is available to buy today exclusively at adidas.com/football, adidas stores, and official club stores. Wider release with select retailers will be available from 15 August.
