Manchester United are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after a 3-1 win over West Ham at Old Trafford.

Days after lifting the Carabao Cup at Wembley to win their first trophy in six years, Erik ten Hag's side kept alive their hopes of an unlikely quadruple thanks to Nayef Aguerd's own goal, Alejandro Garnacho's superb late winner and Fred's injury-time buffer.

It's a result that will be a particularly tough pill for the Hammers to swallow, as David Moyes' relegation threatened side should have been at least two goals to the good by the time Aguerd put through his own net.

Amid a raft of changes, which saw the likes of Marcus Rashford, Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez dropped to the bench, United never really got going in a first 45 minutes that should have seen West Ham lead at the break.

Marcel Sabitzer's low fizzing drive forced a smart save from Alphonse Areola, but the best opportunity of the half fell to West Ham striker Michail Antonio after he sprung a poorly executed United offside trap.

The 32-year-old couldn't find a way past David de Gea though, having perhaps made the chance more difficult for himself than he really ought to of.

Lucas Paqueta also stung the palms of De Gea, as did Antonio with a low left-footed drive, while United's only other effort of note was Garnacho's shot which flew harmlessly over the crossbar.

Ten Hag introduced Casemiro at the interval, replacing the ineffective Scott McTominay, but the Brazilian could do nothing to prevent West Ham from breaking the deadlock nine minutes later.

Tomas Soucek looked to have let the ball run out of play but there was no flag from the assistant referee as he eventually steered the ball into Emerson's path. His short cross inside was collected by Benrahma, who bent a terrific spot past the motionless De Gea and into the top corner.

With VAR not having a camera available to prove that an clear an obvious error had been made, the goal stood - much to delight of the significant travelling faithful.

Ten Hag introduced Rashford and Martinez to turn the game in United's favour, and the momentum eventually begun to swing in the home side's favour. That said, West Ham could, and perhaps should, have been out of sight when Antonio was again denied by a strong hand from De Gea - a square ball to Benrahma was another option for the Jamaican.

After Casemiro had a header ruled out for offside, United drew level when a miscommunication between Aguerd and Areola saw the former glance Bruno Fernandes' corner into his own net.

Now well on top, United found the decisive blow when Garnacho arced a superb finish into Areola's far corner, before another Aguerd error allowed Fred to put the gloss on the scoreline for a jubilant United.

David De Gea

GK: David de Gea - 8/10 - Could do nothing about Benrahma's goal but kept United in the contest with two fine saves from Antonio.

RB: Diogo Dalot - 6/10 - Not the easiest night for the Portuguese defender against an impressive Benrahma.

CB: Harry Maguire - 6/10 - Unnecessarily booked minutes after an awfully timed step-up allowed Antonio to race through on goal. Settled down as the game wore on.

CB: Victor Lindelof - 6/10 - Struggled to combat the physicality of Antonio at times - no surprise to see Martinez come on once Ten Hag recognised that reinforcements were needed.

LB: Tyrell Malacia - 6/10 - Doesn't offer the same attacking threat as Luke Shaw but wasn't in any real trouble going the other way.

CM: Scott McTominay - 5/10 - Pretty ineffective as United struggled to get going in the opening 45 minutes. Booked and replaced at half-time.

CM: Marcel Sabitzer - 7/10 - Proving to be a really good bit of business by United in the January transfer window.

RM: Antony - 5/10 - A touch predictable in his attacking approach, only this time his execution wasn't up to the standard he set against Barcelona last Thursday.

AM: Bruno Fernandes - 6/10 - Not as influential as United may have hoped but played a key role in United's equaliser.

LM: Alejandro Garnacho - 8/10 - Bright early on as United looked to probe the capabilities of West Ham's Ben Johnson and then produced a moment of real quality to win the game.

ST: Wout Weghorst - 7/10 - Got better as the game wore on, causing Aguerd and Ogbonna problems with his movement and ability to hold the ball up.

Substitutes

CM: Casemiro (46' for McTominay) - 8/10 - Just has that aura about him which intimidates opposition players. A real threat from set pieces.

CB: Lisandro Martinez (58' for Lindelof) - 7/10 - No real surprise that United began to get a grip on proceedings once Martinez entered the fray.

RW: Marcus Rashford (58' for Antony) - 6/10 - Not the all-conquering display that we've become accustomed to seeing - but United did turn the screw after his introduction.

CM: Fred (86' for Sabitzer) - 7/10 - Right place at the right time to seal the deal for United. Becoming a bit of a habit this goalscoring lark.

Manager

Erik ten Hag - 8/10 - Recognised that United needed changes to turn the game on its head. Decisive and his players delivered.

GK: Alphonse Areola - 6/10 - Made a really good save from Sabitzer early on but was not authoritative enough at the set piece that cost West Ham the equalising goal.

RB: Ben Johnson - 6/10 - More than held his own against Garnacho, only to then allow the talented teenager too much space to find the winner.

CB: Nayef Aguerd - 4/10 - An own goal and a dreadful error that led to Fred's third was not what the doctor ordered.

CB: Angelo Ogbonna - 6/10 - Battled away against Weghorst gamely.

LB: Emerson Palmieri - 6/10 - There are doubts over Emerson's ability to play in a back four but he didn't do a lot wrong here.

CM: Tomas Soucek - 5/10 - Made a conscious effort to push up alongside Antonio but lacked quality when an end product was needed.

CM: Declan Rice - 7/10 - Produced some classy one-touch passes in tight areas but eventually got overran as West Ham ran out of puff.

CM: Lucas Paqueta - 6/10 - Another display that offered promise without delivering any real substance.

RW: Pablo Fornals - 6/10 - Created a few openings on the right hand side but again lacks the quality really needed to kill games off.

ST: Michail Antonio - 6/10 - Fashioned some chances for himself but really should have done better. Could even have put the tie to bed for West Ham.

LW: Said Benrahma - 8/10 - Particularly good on the ball in the first half, evading tackles and advancing West Ham up the field. Scored a wonderful goal.

Substitutes

RW: Jarrod Bowen (74' for Fornals) - N/A

ST: Gianluca Scamacca (86' for Antonio) - N/A

Manager

David Moyes - 6/10 - Time and time again West Ham play pretty well but fail to kill the game off. Moyes set the team up well but another case of one that got away.
