Man City Warn Phil Foden Over Social Distancing Measures Following Beach Kickabout
Manchester City have spoken to Phil Foden and warned him of his responsibilities after he was pictured playing football on a beach close to a number of other people on Sunday.
As everyone is well aware by this point, contact with others outside of your own home that is closer than two metres apart is forbidden under current government guidelines over fears of further spreading of COVID-19.
Footballers and us commonfolk alike are being advised to stay indoors as much as possible to prevent the impact of the coronavirus' outbreak worsening, although a number of footballers have been found guilty of flouting the rules.
In pictures posted online , Foden can be seen playing football with some friends at a Merseyside beach which demonstrate a lack of said social distancing. This instance has resulted in City speaking to the midfielder to warn him about his conduct, report the BBC.
At the clubs, players are allowed to take part in minimal contact after phase two of Project Restart got underway, but this is not permitted outside of club training.
On the pitch this has been season of progress for Foden, who has already matched his appearance tally for last term and found opportunities in the starting lineup more frequent under Pep Guardiola.
Yet his latest actions may not sit well with the Spaniard. City are due to kick off the Premier League's return as they host Arsenal on 17 June, which will be just the second top flight fixture to take place since English football resumes following Aston Villa's clash with Sheffield United.
Foden's teammate Kyle Walker has also landed himself in hot (hotter) water since lockdown, having hosted a 'party' at his house featuring a three people he did not live with. He faced disciplinary action from the club for his breach of government guidelines.
