Manchester City will look to make another loud statement in the Premier League title race when they host their injury-hit local rivals Manchester United on Sunday at the Etihad.

One of the biggest fixtures every season in the Premier League, the Manchester derby will be watched by millions all around the world, though the odds are stacked heavily in the home side's favour ahead of kick-off.

Both sides were in FA Cup action midweek, with Man City putting six past Luton Town and Man Utd needing a late winner to beat Nottingham Forest. The Red Devils can afford few slip-ups over the coming months if they are to qualify for the Champions League, but Erik ten Hag's squad has once again been hit by injuries to key players.

Here is 90min's preview of the Manchester derby.

What time does Man City vs Man Utd kick-off?

  • Location: Manchester, England
  • Stadium: Etihad Stadium
  • Date: Sunday 3 March
  • Kick-off Time: 15:30 GMT / 10:30 ET / 07:30 PT
  • Referee: Andy Madley
  • VAR: Stuart Attwell

Why is Man City vs Man Utd kicking off at 15:30?

Premier League matches that take place on Sundays tend to kick-off at 14:00 or 16:30 GMT, but this weekend sees the Manchester derby begin between those two times at 15:30.

The later kick-off time is considered more dangerous for fans with the increased risk of crowd trouble at such a big game and an agreement between local authorities and broadcasters to bring the match forward means there is less time for unsavoury incidents between rival supporters to take place.

The reverse fixture back in October was also moved back an hour due to safety concerns.

There are only two genuine injury concerns for Man City right now.

The FA Cup win over Luton saw Jack Grealish limp off with a problem, having only just recovered from a groin issue. The England international won't feature against Man Utd, while Josko Gvardiol is still a doubt.

Even though the Croatian is "training without much pain" according to manager Pep Guardiola, one of Manuel Akanji or Nathan Ake is expected to play at left-back.

Ten Hag has been rocked by a number of recent injuries. Man Utd remain without Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Anthony Martial, Mason Mount, Tyrell Malacia and Rasmus Hojlund, while the clash with Forest threw up some fresh worries.

Bruno Fernandes played through pain on Wednesday night, while Casemiro booked United's place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with the game's only goal after recovering from a head injury suffered in the defeat to Fulham.

Given the issues at right wing with Antony and Amad Diallo not being favoured, Ten Hag could opt for a 4-3-3 which sees Fernandes move to the right.

Man City vs Man Utd score prediction

Man City strolled to a 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford earlier this season and showed their intimidating clinical touch with the midweek thrashing of Luton.

Man Utd are in a much better place now than they were back in October 2023, but injuries may have derailed their late top-four charge for good.

With key players absent and others having to play out of position, this could be a straightforward assignment for Guardiola's side. The treble winners are almost at full strength and should take advantage of the visitors' many absentees with a comfortable win.

Prediction: Man City 3-0 Man Utd
