Manchester City will look to reassert their dominance in the Premier League title race this week when they host a Brentford side sliding in the wrong direction.

Pep Guardiola's team had won 12 league games in a row prior to drawing with Southampton last month, pushing them to the top of the standings and open up a handsome lead over the rest.

Brentford, meanwhile, have had a mixed first season in the Premier League, experiencing some major highs but also some disappointing lows.

This is everything you need to know about the match...

Man City team news

Pep Guardiola is expected to make changes to the rotated City side that beat Fulham in the FA Cup at the weekend, bringing the likes of Ederson, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Bernardo Silva back into the starting lineup.

Jack Grealish could drop out of the XI, while City remain without promising youngster Cole Palmer.

Brentford team news

Christian Eriksen is unlikely to make his debut just yet. The Dane only took part in his first training session with the Bees on Monday and will need a little time to build up his match fitness.

Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa have both recently been isolating with Covid-19. Mathias Jorgensen also remains out for the time being with a thigh injury.

Man City vs Brentford head to head record

The reverse fixture earlier in the season was the first league meeting between these two clubs since a Second Division game in 1951. City won 1-0 on that occasion, with Phil Foden scoring an early winner in west London a few days after Christmas.

The rest of the encounters over the last 70 years have been in cup competitions. Brentford won an FA Cup tie in 1989, while City prevailed over two legs in the League Cup later that year. City also won an FA Cup match in 1997 when Nicky Summerbee scored the only goal.

Man City vs Brentford score prediction

Manchester City's lengthy winning run may have come to an end with their draw against Southampton, but that doesn't make them any less dangerous to anyone they face.

It doesn't bode well for Brentford that they will arrive at the Etihad Stadium off the back of five consecutive defeats in all competitions. They haven't kept a clean sheet since November and are conceding heavily, while City have averaged 2.4 goals per game in the league this season.

Prediction: Man City 4-1 Brentford
