Manchester City will need to spend big if they are to pull off ambitious pursuits of England duo Harry Kane and Jack Grealish this summer, but the Premier League champions could raise £70m or more towards potential outlays by selling off a handful of young fringe players.

Finding willing buyers for young players unlikely to have a future at the Etihad Stadium, most of whom have been out on loan, could see City rake in substantial funds before the futures of players like Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva have even come into it.

It could be a summer of change in the blue half of Manchester as Pep Guardiola looks to revamp his City squad in order to try and stay ahead of the Premier League’s chasing pack.

Aymeric Laporte, Gabriel Jesus, Joao Cancelo, Rodri and Benjamin Mendy have also been linked with possible exits, in addition to the aforementioned Mahrez, Sterling and Silva.

But other young fringe players could collectively command big fees to also help City afford the likes of Kane and Grealish. MailOnline Sport writes that Leeds will soon trigger a £13m option to buy winger Jack Harrison, who has spent three years on loan at Elland Road.

Elsewhere, right-back Pedro Porro could fetch £15m if he makes his loan move to newly crowned Portuguese champions Sporting CP permanent, while they are also eyeing £15m-rated striker Lukas Nmecha - who scored 21 goals on loan at Anderlecht this season.

Ivan Ilic is also said to have a £15m price tag following his season on loan at Hellas Verona.

Venezuelan midfielder Yangel Herrera has been on loan at Granada since 2019 and is now valued at around £20m. The 23-year-old is thought to have been watched by Crystal Palace, Southampton, West Ham in the Premier League, as well as Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Villarreal in La Liga.

In a year when other revenue streams have been supressed by the coronavirus pandemic, selling players to raise cash is going to be an important factor in the transfer market for all clubs.
