Manchester City have agreed terms over a transfer for highly-rated Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes, sources have confirmed to 90min.

City were initially knocked back with an opening £47m offer for Nunes last week, but talks continued between the two clubs and now an agreement for that same price is in place.

Wolves had been hoping for as much as £60m, although an update to proposed payment terms has convinced them to sell for less. 90min also revealed earlier this week that Wolves were open to the idea of taking players as part of the deal. In that respect, Tommy Doyle will head to Molineux.

Although a separate transfer and therefore not officially part of the Nunes deal, Doyle will swap Manchester for Wolverhampton on loan with a £5m option to make the deal permanent. If that is triggered next year, the 21-year-old will also have a sizeable release clause.

With Pep Guardiola seeking to boost his midfield having lost Ilkay Gundogan on a free transfer, City made their move for Nunes after pulling back from efforts to sign West Ham United's Lucas Paqueta.

Nunes has now been given permission to undergo a medical at City, ahead of finalising his transfer, which comes just 12 months after he had joined Wolves from Sporting CP in a £42m deal.

Doyle is due to undergo his medical checks in the west midlands before finalising his move.
