Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic has tested positive for Covid-19, although there is better news regarding goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and midfielders Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga.
The club revealed on Wednesday that Courtois, Valverde, Camavinga and Vinicius Junior had registered positive tests for the virus.
However, although Vinicius is still positive, Marca reported on Thursday that Courtois had returned a second negative PCR test, while Valverde and Camavinga had tested negative for the first time, with further results expected on Friday.
Both Courtois and Vinicius are or were asymptomatic.
Los Blancos confirmed in a statement on Thursday that Serbia international Jovic had become the latest victim of the mini-outbreak at the club.
"Real Madrid CF reports that our player Jović has tested positive for Covid-19," the statement read.
Belgian stopper Courtois is now able to resume training and manager Carlo Ancelotti hopes to have him available for the Madrid derby against Getafe on Sunday, pending clearance from La Liga.
Spain's top flight is coming to the end of its winter break, although the high number of Covid cases throughout Europe and beyond has not stopped Real Madrid's players from travelling far afield. Courtois spent time in Dubai, while Vinicius was in Miami and Valverde voyaged to Argentina.
Luka Modric, Marcelo, Marco Asensio, Rodrygo, Gareth Bale, Andriy Lunin, David Alaba and Isco had all returned positive results before the pause.
