Lucas Vázquez Admits Premier League Move Is 'Very Attractive' Amid Chelsea Links

Despite insisting he wants to retire at Real Madrid, Lucas Vázquez has admitted the idea of playing in the Premier League is a 'very attractive' one to him following rumours linking him to Chelsea.

Although the Spanish winger has spent his entire career on the books in the Spanish capital, he only made his first-team debut aged 23 in 2015. However, Vázquez has featured prominently since and has become an important fixture in Zinedine Zidane's squad.

Reports in Spain suggest Chelsea are interested in the player, with the futures of wide men Willian and Pedro very much in doubt with their respective contracts expiring this summer.

Speaking to The Guardian, Vázquez insisted he wanted to retire a Real Madrid player, but wouldn't rule a move away from the club out. He revealed he has long been admirer of the English game, and believes the playing style would suit him.

“The dream is to retire at Madrid but in football, you don’t know," he said.

“When I was little, I always watched the Premier League with my brother. It was, it is, very attractive: a nice football to play, one that could fit my characteristics and personality well.”

While the Chelsea rumours are just that - rumours - at the moment, the three-time Champions League winner admitted he'd been taking English lessons to boost his linguistic skills and help his chances should a Premier League side come calling.

Vázquez has enjoyed several fruitful years at Real Madrid, tasting La Liga success as well as landing an unprecedented three consecutive Champions League titles during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Vázquez is one of many attacking players Chelsea have been linked with of late, with the Blues determined to bolster their forward line. The west London side failed to sign Edinson Cavani and Dries Mertens in January and have RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner as well as Lyon striker Moussa Dembele firmly in their sights, although it remains to be seen whether they are favourites for either with Liverpool and Manchester United interested respectively.
