The Liverpool lineup that should start against Manchester United in the FA Cup
Liverpool head to Old Trafford on Sunday to take on Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round, hoping to shrug off their poor form against a fierce rival.
The Reds have failed to win five of their last six games in all competitions, including a 0-0 draw when they faced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side just last week at Anfield in the Premier League.
With a run of fixtures coming up that is looking increasingly difficult, Jurgen Klopp must assess his options and look to get back to winning ways as soon as possible while also having the opportunity to halt their title rivals' momentum. This is the starting lineup that Liverpool should go for.
1. Goalkeeper and Defenders
Alisson (GK) - The undisputed number one. He must start as Liverpool look to get back to winning ways.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) - Has struggled for form in recent weeks but Klopp is light on options in defence and he needs his right-back in form.
Joel Matip (CB) - Liverpool's only fit senior centre-back, he must start in this game to deal with United's attacking quality.
Fabinho (CB) - Arguably the club's best player this season, he must start in this game.
Andrew Robertson (LB) - Quick, strong, excellent defensively and always a threat going forward, Robertson's inclusion is almost guaranteed in a game of this importance.
2. Midfielders
James Milner (CM) - The experienced vice-captain hasn't featured too much in recent games, but his determination and leadership could be what is needed to lift this side out of their slump.
Thiago Alcantara (CM) - The best technical footballer at the club, he's been criticised for slowing the game down too much but he has too much quality to leave him out of the side.
Curtis Jones (CM) - Jones was in good form earlier in the season and his attacking instincts could be what help the side find their goalscoring touch once again.
3. Forwards
Mohamed Salah (RW) - Rested for the defeat to Burnley, Salah's only goal in the last six games came in the previous round of this competition. He's still their best chance of a goal though and must start.
Roberto Firmino (ST) - His form has been poor for the most part this season but he seems to be getting on the end of chances more than anyone else and his creativity will be key.
Takumi Minamino (LW) - Was excellent in the 7-0 win over Crystal Palace but has since been restricted to less than 68 minutes of action. Should come in for the out of form Mane and look to pick up where he left off.
