Liverpool moved to within four points of the Premier League top four thanks to a fifth consecutive win on Wednesday, beating Fulham by a single goal at Anfield.

The Reds are still up against it in the hunt for Champions League football owing to games starting to run out and both Manchester United and Newcastle above them having games in hand. But their form right now at least evokes memories of the late dart into fourth place in 2020/21.

Mohamed Salah scored the only goal of the game from the penalty sport in the first half and had an all-round decent game. Virgil van Dijk also deserves a shout out for his performance, although there was another whose contributions stood out even more, while no one stunk the place out.

Here's who impressed and who flattered to deceive at Anfield from 90min's player ratings.

Liverpool’s best player vs Fulham

Alisson: 8/10

For match-winning intervention, look no further than Alisson. Liverpool would not have won this game without their goalkeeper, who made three saves over the course of the 90 minutes.

It may not sound like a lot, but he denied Carlos Vinicius with a good stop early on and then stuck out a huge right paw in the closing stages to stop the Fulham striker scoring a certain equaliser.

Liverpool’s success in the Champions League and Premier League in 2019 and 2020 respectively was built on Alisson’s arrival as the final piece in the jigsaw and he showed once more this evening just why he remains so important to the team’s future prosperity.

Liverpool’s worst player vs Fulham

Kostas Tsimikas: 6/10

There was no single player in a Liverpool shirt who was obviously poor against Fulham. That makes ‘worst’ seem a tad harsh, when in this context it could more be ‘most mediocre’.

That could probably go to left-back Kostas Tsimikas, drafted into the starting XI to give Andrew Robertson a bit of a break and get the Greek some valuable minutes of his own.

But the numbers don’t paint the best picture. He was okay, but none of his attempted crosses found their mark, while he didn’t make any successful tackles.
