Lewis Dunk Commits Future to Brighton After Signing New Five-Year Contract

Lewis Dunk has ended speculation surrounding his future by penning a new five-year deal with Brighton and Hove Albion.

Talk had emerged this summer - and previous windows - about a potential departure for the Englishman, with the likes of Chelsea and Leicester credited with an interest in the centre-half.

Such rumours can now be put to bed, with the Seagulls confirming on their official website that Dunk has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club, running until 2025.

Head coach Graham Potter said, “We’re absolutely delighted that Lewis has made this long-term commitment to the club. It’s fantastic news for everyone: the club, the supporters, the team and myself.

“Since I came to the club he’s been a joy to work with and he’s a top player. We are very lucky to have him. I think his role as captain is one he’s grown into and one he will do better and better for the next few years.

“He leads by example on the pitch and he’s a good lad off it – a delight to work with. We’re all determined to push on next season and establish the club in the Premier League and I’m really pleased that Lewis will be with us on that journey.”

It was similar emotions for the 28-year-old, who insisted his focus was on maintaining the impressive work the club have done under Potter's tutelage. He said: “I’m delighted to have signed a new contract. The aim now is to build on a record Premier League season and help the club continue its recent progress over the next five years.”

Someone who has been touted for a regular England berth, Dunk has amassed nearly 300 matches for Brighton since breaking through the youth ranks - 110 of those outings coming in the Premier League.
