Leicester make bid for Patson Daka as Odsonne Edouard deal nears completion
By Ross Jackson
Leicester have tabled a bid for Red Bull Salzburg's much sought-after frontman Patson Daka, while they're also close to securing deals for Odsonne Edouard and Boubakary Soumare.
The Foxes have wasted no time at all in looking to bolster their ranks this summer following their end-of-season collapse that once again cost them a place in the Champions League.
Kelechi Iheanacho hit a real purple patch of form in the second half of last season - notching 11 goals in his final 12 Premier League games - though fellow frontman Jamie Vardy's poor campaign has proved cause for concern for Brendan Rodgers and the Leicester manager is now keen to add to his attacking options.
Daka has been courted by some of Europe's biggest cubs with both Chelsea and Liverpool recently credited with an interest in him, though Fabrizio Romano now reports that Leicester have entered the race to sign him and an official bid has been made.
Daka's situation is more complex than it may first seem, with reports previously suggesting RB
Salzburg's sister club RB Leipzig are eager to take advantage of their ties with the club to attract the Zambia international to them.
The 22-year-old isn't the only forward on Rodgers' summer shopping list and a deal for Celtic striker
Edouard is close to completion.
Meanwhile, long-term Foxes target Soumare is on the verge of being announced as a Leicester player with a deal already in place that will see him join the club this summer. There's no official word on the fee involved though it's believed to be somewhere in the region of £21.5m.
The Lille midfielder is another who's been monitored by some huge clubs across Europe in recent months, with Liverpool in particular credited with an interest, though it seems Leicester are on the verge of finally announcing his arrival at the King Power Stadium.
